Biography - Felipe Torres
Felipe Torres started playing drums at 14 when he began lessons with a private teacher and through high school he played in every group he could join, from marching band to chorus and was voted Band President by his senior year.
It was that year that Felipe started taking lessons at New York City's Drummers Collective with such notables as Sandy Gennaro, Mike Clark, Ian Froman, Guy Licata, Vince Cherico and Gary Kelly.
Felipe has also studied privately with Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Robby Ameen, Matt Johnson, Billy Ward and Joe Ascione.
Though he was born in Germany and spent his childhood in Colombia and Staten Island, for the past 15 years he has lived and worked in the New Jersey / New York Metro area and has made his living as a local and world touring performer, a sought after recording session player and a private teacher for 10 of those years.
He has done U.S. and Canadian tours with Dreamworks artists OURS, Road Runner Records blues artist Peter Karp and the Roadshow and jump/jazz band Jumptime, Lizard King Records rock band Surefire, The Monkees, and currently is the drummer/back-up vocalist for the Davy Jones Band.
Felipe specializes in teaching beginners on drumset and orchestral percussion, reading, rudiments, and various styles of music.
This winter, he received his first official endorsement with EVANS Drumheads.
